Christmas Fun Abounds on Thursday @ The Showroom:
Blizzard! - 12/11/08 - Thursday5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Blizzard! is an interactive seasonal sculpture, featuring an element that is notably absent in a Southern winter: snow, of course. For those who haven’t yet experienced a whiteout, or for those who enjoy dour, harsh winter weather, this contained storm will provide the opportunity to undergo the rigors of a blizzard, safely and risk free!
Blizzard! Is free and open to the public on December 11, 12 and 13 from 6-8PM each day.
Complimentary refreshments will be served. This is a family-friendly event.
Blizzard! is located at 149 South Daniel Morgan Avenue, in the building next door to Brasserie-Ecosse.
There is no heating in the space, so don’t forget your mittens!

For those who like a little spice with their Christmas sugar, this hilarious one-person play chronicles a man's experience working as an elf in Macy's Santaland. David Sedaris is a genuine American voice--witty, sardonic and unpredictable, mercilessly cutting through the Christmas spirit to point out what crazy things we do as human beings during the holidays.
NPR humorist and best-selling author David Sedaris made his comic debut reading his "Santaland Diaries" on National Public Radio's Morning Edition. Sedaris' sardonic humor and incisive social critique have since made him one of NPR's most popular and humorous commentators. He is the author of the bestsellers Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day. Sedaris and his sister, Amy Sedaris, have written several plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center, and The Drama Department in New York City. In 2001, David Sedaris became the third recipient of the Thurber Prize for American Humor, and was named by Time magazine as "Humorist of the Year."
Actor Jay Coffman stars as Crumpet, the wickedly funny Macy's Elf. Coffman is a fixture on the Upstate theatre circuit working both in the spotlight and behind the scenes. He has performed in many plays in the Spartanburg area and is currently the Interim Executive Artistic Director for the Spartanburg Little Theatre. He is no stranger to the stage at The Showroom performing the role of Cupid in sold out performances of The Reindeer Monologues for the past two years.
