HUB-BUB presents the "From Here to Awesome" Showcase Film Festival every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., starting August 7 and ending October 2.

Each week another short and feature length film will be screened and the public is invited to attend these FREE showings. Independent films competed to be one of the select films shown at theaters and other venues like The Showroom worldwide. For updates and more insight check out this blog. "From Here to Awesome" is the brainchild of Arin Crumley, a filmmaker who did a three-week residency at HUB-BUB in May 2008. *17 and over admitted.

FEATURE: The Other America: This film centers on Ari, a homeless urban teenager. It is a coming of age story in the context of poverty, disillusionment, and the failure of the American dream to embrace perceived outsiders. By showing the complexity of Ari’s emotional life, and the conflicts that surround other teens close to him, “The Other America” is about the real hopes and dreams of American kids’ lives.

SHORT: Louder Than Words: A Flipbook Story: A young man tries to poison a bunny rabbit for eating from his perfect little garden. As a result, he discovers that for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction, when his home becomes infested with maggots, and flies are ruining his meals and his peace. To win back control of his home he must defeat the tiny enemy invaders in an epic fly battle.
